TODAY IS THE DAY 🎉
The Art and Science of Connection is officially out.
Here’s me on the outside:
And here’s me on the inside:
Here’s the thing: Early momentum is crucial for this book to have the biggest impact it can. The book contains tools and insights to truly help people live more meaningfully connected lives—but only if they know about it.
So let’s get The Art and Science of Connection into the hands, heads, and hearts of as many people as possible!
Here’s how you can help:
Order the book TODAY. If you can, order multiple and share them with your family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors.
Spread the word TODAY. Quick way: like and share my posts on LinkedIn and Instagram. Meaningful way: post a photo of you holding the book!
Leave a review on Amazon this week. It can be short and simple—and you don’t have to have finished reading the book.
THANK YOU!
On a personal note, I’m overwhelmed by gratitude for your flood of messages, posts, and photos already. I’m grateful to you for caring about this topic and being my collaborators, confidantes, and community on the mission to elevate social health. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to share my passion and learnings with you. And I’m grateful to be at this stage of the journey—a journey that has challenged and pushed me to grow more than any other professional undertaking.
I’m going to go pop some bubbly with loved ones, but in the meantime,
Thank you.
There are nearly 7 million articles on Wikipedia…
…and not one is devoted to social health.
It’s high time to elevate social health alongside physical and mental health. My latest for the Guardian explains why—and gives you a preview of what you can look forward to in the book.
There’s a new wave of innovation coming on the heels of the mental health industry—and it includes gyms for social fitness, personal trainers for human connection, and prescriptions for community. Fortune published an excerpt from the book today, so here’s another sneak peek!
We’ve got people talking
In last week’s newsletter, I shared my collaboration with the New York Times inspired by the social health styles in the book: Butterfly, Firefly, Wallflower, and Evergreen.
Well, the quiz ended up being quite popular… and even made an appearance on the TODAY Show!
Here was my very professional, totally chill response when my book team sent that clip to me:
Jokes aside, this is about more than one book.
The fact that social health is making headlines is a sign of the impact our combined efforts are making. It’s a sign that what YOU do counts. As a friend, parent, sibling, or neighbor, how you connect with the people around you matters. Whether you’re a nonprofit leader, researcher, software engineer, city official, teacher, restaurant server, or something else entirely, how you foster connection through your work matters, too.
Over ten years ago when I started studying social health, topics like connection and loneliness were seen as niche at best, not taken seriously at worst. Now the World Health Organization has made them a global priority and public figures are discussing their social health styles on national TV.
This is progress, and I’m proud to be part of that progress with you.
Let’s keep it going.
